Place your recycling and trash totes with the wheels toward your house. Please do not park in front of any totes. Large Items & Electronics…. Top of Page Large Items are pieces which will not fit inside your garbage tote—Sofa. Chair, Table, Dresser, etc. Residents may dispose of a maximum of TWO (2) large items per week Carpet or flooring must be cut down to four (4) feet in length and bundled. Each bundle must weigh forty (40) pounds or less. See below for disposal of large quantities of construction debris. Modern will NOT collect Electronics or Televisions. These products must be taken to an Electronics Recycling Event! For dates of scheduled events check the Sunking web site (https://www.sunnking.com/consumer-business/events/) Chemicals & Hazardous Waste….Top of Page Please do NOT use your garbage/recycling totes to dispose of paint, household chemicals, or other hazardous materials. Eire County sponsors a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event every spring. Top of Page You can take tires to Geitter Done of WNY, 300 Greene St. for disposal for a nominal fee. Call 895-8121 for hours and prices. Additional Concerns….. Top of Page All construction debris (wood, drywall, flooring, tile, insulation, etc) must be disposed of at the waste collection site located at: 3675 Jeffrey Blvd, Blasdell, NY. Hours of operation: 7:00am - 4:00pm - please do not arrive any later than 3:45pm. Cost to dispose is based on tonnage at the rate of $70/ton. For more information, please call: 824-3767. Yard Debris (grass clippings, small branches, plants, weeds) can be placed in your TRASH tote - bagged or unbagged. You may also place these items outside of your trash tote in large brown paper yard debris bags which can be purchased at Home Depot, Valu, Lowe’s, Wal-mart, etc. o Large branches or bushes must be tied in bundles no longer than 4' and can be placed at the curb on trash day. How many trees would be saved by recycling one ton of paper?

Each ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution. How much plastic is recycled each year in the US? In 2009, 2.12 million tons of plastics (of all kinds) were recycled in the United States. However, that was only 7.1% of all plastics generated in 2009. In 2009, the plastic bottle recycling rate reached a record high of 2.5 billion pounds, or 28% of all plastic bottles consumed in the United States.
