After the first camp of four, this camp had nine chefs-to-be! Even three young men checked their
“machismo” at the door and participated! This go ‘round was “Magic Bars,” a snack/dessert made
with graham crackers, sweetened condensed milk, coconut, chocolate chips, and chopped
walnuts.
Campers learned how to:
˖ Behave in the kitchen
˖ Practice food safety
˖ Use basic kitchen tools
˖ How to calculate simple measurements
They also learned to give back to the community. In addition to taking some of their treats home to
share with their families, the campers gave some to the seniors who are their grandparents and
who worked to make things better for the future, to the Highway Department for keeping the
streets clean and safe and to the Fire Department for protecting everyone in the village.
